About Us

Mission Statement:

“Neerlandia Public Christian School will provide a Christ-centred education so that students are equipped to serve God joyfully in all areas of life.”

Motto:

“Learning To Serve”

History:

Early in 1915 a school had started in Neerlandia, however it was not until 1917 that Shoal Creek School District #3460 was formed and finally in 1919 the first school building was opened. Although Neerlandia School has always been under the public school umbrella, it has had a tradition of providing Christian education. In May of 1996 it received official Alternative School Status and hence we have our present title: Neerlandia Public Christian School.

Our goal as a school community is to acknowledge and encourage the development of each individual’s God given gifts and equip them in learning to serve God joyfully in all areas of life. Presently, Neerlandia Public Christian School serves over 240 students in grades K to Gr. 9. In the 2023-2024 year we also have 17 in our preschool classes.

Our Facility

In December, 2015 we were excited and blessed to move into a brand new, full-accessible school. Our full sized gym enables us to run an excellent physical education program and extra curricular activities. We have beautiful kitchen facilities for Food Studies, a warm, bright and inviting atmosphere for all students. We are also blessed with a well-stocked Public/School Library.

Students are also kept active during Phys. Ed. classes and at recesses and breaks, playing on soccer fields, baseball diamonds, tennis courts, and our three playgrounds (new one was just added in summer of 2022)

Neerlandia Public Christian School offers many opportunities for all students to be involved in many extra-curricular activities such as sports programs: volleyball, basketball, badminton, etc. All who wish to play these sports have an opportunity to do so.

Modern technology is integrated into our new facility.

Our school year consists of 161 days as we follow an Alternative School Year Calendar, so our students have mostly 4-day weeks. We start at 8:25 am and dismiss at 3:40 pm.

Busing is available from Barrhead and surrounding areas.
